Divide and rule was the policy that facilitated the British rule in India for close to 150 years. That was quite a significant duration after all. Talk about India in 2015 and you will agree that, though we have the luxury of having handpicked rulers at the helm, the core principal to stay in contention for power remains the same. Appeasement policies used by the leaders to fetch votes is not veiled anymore. India has been literally an independent nation since 1947 but, unfortunately, those who are ruled, aren’t. And this huge rift in the system has exposed our gray area to the world. Those keeping a close tab on the development of events here would know that India is no immune to communal strife either. And if you manage to manipulate the adrenaline driven staunch natives living in the so-called educated suburbs, you have successfully pressed the panic button. The ugly game of thrones happening here is seen and enjoyed by opportunists from all over the world who have been a counterfeit well-wisher to India. They exercise their virtuous name to get into the scheme of things & then start bugging it right from the core. And they have done a commendable job!! Those blessed with a prodigious brain have been prompt enough to evaluate the power of Indian market & forge their way to recognition.

The latest news reveals that the reputed Ford foundation of America is under the scanner of India government. Curbing has been imposed after Gujarat’s administration reported against the US-based international philanthropy. In a letter seeking righteous action against Ford Foundation, the Gujarat govt. blamed it for “interfering in the internal affairs” of the country & “assisting communal disharmony” through an NGO run by social activist Teesta Setalvad, a well-known campaigner seeking justice for 2002 riot victims.
It is also claimed that Setalvad & her husband Javed Anand whose NGO get the major chunk of their funding through Ford Foundation, together are indulged in covert activities which don't augur too well for the goodwill of the nation.
The two trusts run by the couple has received approximately $500,000 from Ford Foundation after the 2002 riots in the name of social upliftment of the riot survivors. But a closer look at the real picture reveals that the funds are being utilized for the despised activities. A report also claims that the foundation had little role to play in the politically motivated riots of Saharanpur, UP that took place last year.
Rajni Patel, the state’s junior home minister says, “Our probe revealed that … the money raised for the 2002 riot victims was used to carry out a sustained campaign against the Gujarat government in India and abroad. This amounts to interference in the state and also anti-national”. If the aforesaid statement holds any truth then India’s persona is being muddled globally, which is not at all a welcome sign.

And once confirmed, even a giant organization as big as Ford Foundation can be dealt with severity. It’s just a matter of time that people from all over the world start understanding the fact that religion barrier can’t supersede the interest of a nation & it’s subjects.
My urge to our cognizant government is that they must put the integrity of the country as their top priority & shouldn’t let the reputation of the nation being sabotaged deliberately. Let’s stay vigil & start looking at things with a more rational approach.
